Crowdfunder Marketing Strategy and Support

We developed a content heavy, interactive charity marketing strategy to help Glossop North End Juniors Football Club engage their community and raise as many funds as possible in 8 weeks.

The client

GNE set itself a challenge at the start of 2021 – to raise as much money as possible towards funds to help revamp the facilities and create Glossop’s first community sports hub. A 500+ member strong club with 38 teams, it was time for the club to have facilities to match the needs of its members.


Moxie were drafted in to help the club build awareness in a difficult time –  during Lockdown #3! The strategy needed to creatively support the multiple fundraising activities,  the Crowdfunder page and social channels all seeking to drive support from as many people as possible, from parents at the club through to corporate sponsors.

“We have seen significant growth in the football club in the last 5 years with teams increasing from 20 to nearly 40. We have great plans to add even more teams and recreational playing groups but also work with other Sports; Rugby, Running, Cycling, Fitness clubs and local colleges to offer even more to our community and support existing groups. At the start of the campaign our position was a poor one. We were limited as a club by poor facilities and games regularly off, we really needed to create the momentum around the Crowdfunder to helps us achieve creating a home that we can call our own.

The Solution 

The Moxie team produced over 65 images for social channel use, posters for fundraisers to use, fundraising sheets for the children to records their efforts and even some colouring activity books to help the kids through lockdown half term!

We helped create several events on Facebook, from a Charity Golf Tournament,  quizzes and wine nights to a live raffle and auction with some fabulous prizes!

We helped develop effective social media strategies to get the message across all social channels, from Facebook to Twitter and across Instagram including Reels and Stories to increase the we helped develop a content heavcampaign’s reach.

A series of press releases were written and shared across the region and over the 8 week period, with accompanying communications to the 500 strong members, always ensuring that all stakeholders were aware of how much their efforts were appreciated.

The campaign was launched at the end of January in the midst of the country being locked down, the effort required to think of innovative ways for the community to raise funds was a challenge!

At a time when the club needed to focus all of its efforts on fundraising and virtual team training, Moxie were able to deliver a wealth of flexible and cost-effective support with outreach materials for the club to share and use across its community to help target as many as people as possible and create as much awareness as possible.
